Ephesians 3: 14…

Ephesians 3: 14-21

14For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
15from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,
16that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,
17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith ; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
19and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
20Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,
21to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

Sunday sweets.

How precious is Your steadfast love, O God!  The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.

They feast on the abundance of Your house, and You give them drink from the river of Your delights.

For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light do we see light.

Psalm 36: 7-9

I Am His and He is Mine

“I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine, He who pastures
his flock among the lilies.”

~Song of Solomon 6:3

I Am His and He Is Mine

1. Loved with everlasting love,
Led by grace that love to know;
Gracious Spirit from above,
Thou hast taught me it is so!
O, this full and perfect peace!
O, this transport all divine!
In a love which cannot cease,
I am His, and He is mine.
In a love which cannot cease,
I am His, and He is mine.

2. Heav’n above is softer blue,
Earth around is sweeter green!
Something lives in every hue
Christless eyes have never seen;
Birds with gladder songs o’erflow,
Flowers with deeper beauties shine,
Since I know, as I now know,
I am His, and He is mine.
Since I know, as I now know,
I am His, and He is mine.

3. Things that once were wild alarms
Cannot now disturb my rest;
Closed in everlasting arms,
Pillowed on the loving breast.
O, to lie forever here,
Doubt and care and self resign,
While He whispers in my ear,
I am His, and He is mine.
While He whispers in my ear,
I am His, and He is mine.

4. His forever, only His;
Who the Lord and me shall part?
Ah, with what a rest of bliss
Christ can fill the loving heart!
Heav’n and earth may fade and flee,
Firstborn light in gloom decline;
But while God and I shall be,
I am His, and He is mine.
But while God and I shall be,
I am His, and He is mine.

These five pendants are sponsored by the Gandy’s.  Kathy is a dear friend who I have had

the pleasure to meet.  She and her husband were the leaders of the BSU at my daughter’s

college, and they are now “retired.”

Our friendship was orchestrated by God in such a precious way, that makes knowing her

twice as wonderful.

She blesses me.

So I asked her what should go on this pendant and she said the above quote,

“I am His and He is mine.”  This hymn has been a favorite of hers from childhood.

It is beautiful. The 2nd verse being her particular favorite. Verse 4 speaks to my heart.

“Who the Lord and me shall part?”  No one.  He holds.

This hymn does contain sweet and precious promises.  I pray our Papa will prompt
someone’s heart to feel the same way towards Jin Wu.  And I am thankful he is His child.
The next five donations will receive this pendant.  Just e-mail me
foundinhisgrace@aol.com with a copy of your receipt and your snail mail address and I will
ship it directly!

Gill’s Exposition of the Entire BibleI am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine,…. Expressive of interest in Christ, and union to him, and of her faith therein; which still continued, notwithstanding her unbecoming behavior toward Christ, and her many infirmities, Sol 5:2. Aben Ezra connects the words with the preceding, “my beloved is gone”, &c. but though he is, and I am left alone, I know I am his, and he is mine; which throws a beauty upon the words, and declares the excellency and strength of her faith; for herein lies the glory and excellency of faith, to believe in an unseen Christ: though it may be the Shechinah was with her, as the Targum has it; or Christ had now appeared to her, and was found by her, and therefore, like Thomas, says, “my Lord and my God”;
he feedeth among the lilies; See Gill on Sol 2:16.

Keil and Delitzsch Biblical Commentary on the Old Testament3 I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine,
Who feeds among the lilies,
Shulamith farther proceeds, followed by the daughters of Jerusalem, to seek her friend lost through her own fault. She always says, not אישׁי, but דּודי and רעי; for love, although a passion common to mind and body, is in this Song of Songs viewed as much as possible apart from its basis in the animal nature. Also, that the description hovers between that of the clothed and the unclothed, gives to it an ideality favourable to the mystical interpretation. Nakedness is ערוה. But at the cross nakedness appears transported from the sphere of sense to that of the supersensuous.

Geneva Study BibleI am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine: he feedeth among the lilies.

Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary3. In speaking of Jesus Christ to others, she regains her own assurance. Literally, “I am for my beloved . for me.” Reverse order from So 2:16. She now, after the season of darkness, grounds her convictions on His love towards her, more than on hers towards Him (De 33:3). There, it was the young believer concluding that she was His, from the sensible assurance that He was hers.

Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary6:2,3 Christ’s church is a garden, enclosed, and separated from the world; he takes care of it, delights in it, and visits it. Those who would find Christ, must attend him in his ordinances, the word, sacraments, and prayer. When Christ comes to his church, it is to entertain his friends. And to take believers to himself: he picks the lilies one by one; and at the great day he will send forth his angels to gather all his lilies, that he may be for ever admired in them. The death of a believer is not more than the owner of a garden plucking a favourite flower; and He will preserve it from withering, yea, cause it to flourish for ever, with increasing beauty. If our own hearts can witness for us that we are Christ’s, question not his being ours, for the covenant never breaks on his side. It is the comfort of the church, that he feeds among the lilies, that he takes delight in his people.
