  1. It’s always been a very poignant verse for all of us, that He shares our deepest pain, that He enters it fully.

    There’s an awful line in Hannah and Her Sisters where the Max von Sydow character is commenting on gospel charlatans always asking for money on television and he says that Jesus would never stop throwing up if He heard them. Well, this is Woody Allen at his most cynical but at least it shows that nothing here happens in a vacuum as far as God is concerned. I guess there’s some comfort in that. I know there is. It’s just hard to apprehend at times.
